Right, more on French open. :)
Sorry, bear with me. I'm afraid I won't be blogging about anything else until French open's over. Wheee. OH and scroll down to post below ok, I insist that that post will not go unseen. XD
Anyway!
Rafa's still in the competition! (Like duh). He strolled past Juan Martin del Potro, Cipolla and fellow countryman Montanes, no sweat. The Hewitt match was pretty nerve-wrecking in the third set. First two sets were a breeze for our prince, but third set, Hewitt kinda bounced back. Shall quote from live commentary on Roland Garros webbie...
"Two sets down, but no worries, our Hew's a five-set man."
"Hew's a slow starter, but this isn't really ideal, is it. Slow starts are fine for other folks, but not against the floppy-haired, capri-panted Marjocan king of clay."
For anyone who doesn't know, the floppy-haired, capri-panted Marjocan king of clay in question is Rafa. :)
Hewitt's always been like that. In all his matches at RG thus far, he's been forcing the match into four or five sets. Like mentioned before, slow starter, he is. But does that work against Rafa? NO.
So third set was pretty scary, cos Hewitt forced a tie-breaker, and broke Rafa a few times too. You can still see the marks on my feet and arms where I clawed at in pure anxiety. :D But no worries, Rafa saved the tie-breaker and the match, and gained his place in the quarter finals, where he'll meet apparent ex-mentor and fellow countryman Carlos Moya. Who's nine years older than him, by the way. Like that matters though. Anyway.
Federer's actually getting pretty good on clay, the tricky thing. He's been learning clay court tricks, no doubt. I fear for Rafa. If he meets him in the finals, he's gonna have a bit of a tough time. He might even lose! Zomg! No! He's playing ninth seed (or so I think) Tommy Robredo now, and though I haven't got high hopes at all, I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Robredo to finish him off for Rafa. Not very likely though. Fed won the first set and lost the second, and then won the third again. Now he's leading the fourth. Oh darn. Nevermind, I hope he'll meet Davydenko next, who'll have a better chance of finishing him off. Sorry, Roger, I don't have anything against you, but a girl's gotta support her obsession, right? XD
Side note: Suprise exits from all nine USA men in the first round, including third seed Andy Roddick (Zhimin will be pleased), James Blake, and uh, who else? Anyway, Fernando Gonzalez (fifth seed I think) was also knocked out in the first round. Ooh.
Is everyone superbly bored already? If anyone actually got this far. Whoops.
OK NOW LOOK AT THE POST BELOW!
P.S.: Bimbo list will be up as soon as we have finalized it on Dr Idiot's blog!
