I can stop bugging Rita to tell me jokes now!

Tennis Jokes:

1) Why should you never fall in love with a tennis player?
To them, "Love" means nothing.

2) The Tennis Player's Prayer

Please don't let me be so nervous
When I toss the ball for service.

Give me speed and strength unhaulting,
Aces and no double-faulting.

Instill in me the skill and dash
Of Agassiie, Williams, Roddick and Ashe.

When a high lob starts to fall,
Must I always miss the ball?

Lord, I know you could, I'm sure,
Find me a Tennis Elbow cure.

With the guidance from above,
Never let me fall in 'love.'

And, Lord, while on matters of this sort
Please let me find an open court!!

3) You know you watch too much tennis when you walk in late to class, and you ask the teacher to check shot spot to see if your foot was in the classroom when the bell rang.

4) You know you watch too much tennis when you can impersonate every player.
*cough* Djokovic!

5) You know you watch too much tennis when you can name top 100 players but can't remember your kids names. (I can only name 30+? Hmm what were the names of the tiny thing and the pygmy puff sitting next to me in class again?)

6) You know you watch too much tennis when you name your kids after pros. (hey that's an idea!)

7) You know you watch too much tennis when you are taking an exam, and you are drawing out the draws to the next tournament. *cough* philo!

8) Which tennis couple is most likely to produce the next tennis superstar?

Federer and Serena - Talent and muscle.

Nadal and Hingis - Muscle and crafty game.

Roddick and Hingis - Serve and craftiness.

Safin and Justine - Size and tennis IQ.

Mauresmo and Justine - one small problem, a sperm.

Ok, non-jokes now:

"i definitely think nadal has endeared himself to more fed fans. also, he has not displayed the type of cockiness & foot-in-mouth disease that has plagued djokovic...but as far as being a threat to federer’s no. 1 position, nadal is still way ahead of djokovic."

"DEFINITELY! I hated that Federer lost to Djokovic, he’s a little prick. Nadal might have some funky habits (the butt picking really does get annoying to watch), but he knows how to show respect to those he beats and to those who beat him. I’d rather watch Roger play Rafa, and maybe even lose to him, then lose to Djokovic anyday."

"...Rafa’s jumping up and down, sprinting to the baseline and all his other uber-macho muscle-flexing antics on the court. But if he lacks popularity with Federer fans, it’s because he’s won more of their matches than he’s lost."

"...not into nadal, he's beaten federer too many times for my liking."

VAMOS RAFA!

Two words: SO CUTEEEEEEEEE! :D :D :D

I am pleased to announce that my blog has returned from Davy Jones's locker! Yes, it's been hanging around in the land of the dead for a spell, but I've managed to extract it back from the crabs!

*cough*

Ok, so I did get too caught up with the US open, among other stuff. :D Before I start ranting on about that, I should perhaps jabber about the stuff which happened while Song of the angels was on vacation.

I AM LEGAL FOR NC16 MOVIES! :D :D :D I was entertaining the thought of going to catch one on my birthday itself, so as to have the whole satisfaction of showing your IC to the person, and smirking at the thought that you would have been turned away just yesterday. Unfortunately, due to the darned fact that my birthday happened to be in the middle of EOY week, I couldn't. Not that I would have let that stop me though, there just weren't any good shows. I wish my birthday had been when shows like Da Vinci Code, Hannibal Rising and Priceless were on! Fine, so I shall just count down to my 18th. :)

Teachers' Day, I went back to MGS for the first time since I left it! Before I went, Daveen was warning me, "They are very hostile towards the RG people! When I went back the last time, they were all like ignoring me!"

Zhixin: You should have brought your PE shirt to change into later, then you can show the "RAFFLES" on the shirt!
Yinfei: I did! It's in my bag now!

Zhixin seemed to think that I was "getting smarter". x) Fine, I brought the shirt for that very reason. Like, "hey we're wearing house shirt tomorrow! then like that they won't know that I'm from RGS! ah bring pe shirt lah, later change into it." When I met my P3 maths teacher, though, she thought I went to nanyang! I was like "no, RGS", then she spotted the school logo on the shirt, and was all "oh yeah, your school has this...this italian...or is it latin? thing, filiae, filiae what ah?" I went just to see her, cos I seriously think that she was the only really good teacher I had in primary school. She scolded us a lot though, so a lot of people didn't like her. I didn't expect anyone else to remember me though, but all of a sudden, all my teachers kept coming up and asking, "You're...Yinfei right?!" My maths teacher went, "OH MY GOODNESS, I CAN'T RECOGNIZE YOU ANYMORE! YOU'VE CHANGED SO MUCH!" Then my english teacher (I didn't like her) said "Hmm, yeah, there're some changes..." and the other teacher said, "of course lah! she's sec 4 now!" Another teacher thought I was sec 2! For some reason, they all thought I looked very "intelligent and full of ambition" (yeah right, look at my grades!), and that they always knew I was very, uh, smart, and that I looked very "focused" even when I was in P3? I think they probably say that to every visiting ex student!

Options are actually kinda fun! Well, analysing talk is. Ms Lim is real funny. :D

"Whenever we have to go to other schools to test English Oral, they always warn us first before sending us to schools like SJI and ACS, because the boys there are super-duper charming, and if you're not careful, you'll give them higher marks based on their charm and not their performance!"

"Now, I'm sure you all can tell apart a RI boy and a ACS boy right?"
The whole class started laughing and going "yeah", and when she asked why we could, Cheryl was like "based on the charm". Ok I'm not slandering anyone here, I just find the stereotypes amusing, not that I agree with them.

Ok, US open!

The GOOD:

1. JUSTINE WON! :D It's her second US open title, and seventh Grand Slam! Just one shy of Serena's, and based on her performance thus far, and Serena's, she's going to overtake that record in no time. Aaaand she did it WITHOUT DROPPING A SINGLE SET for the entire tournament! Meaning, complete straight-set wins for her throughout! The best part is that she took out Serena in the quarters, Venus in the semis, and then went on to take the title! She's the first woman to beat both Williams sisters and then go on to take the title in a Slam! Martina Hingis beat both of them too, but melted and lost to Jennifer Capriatti in the finals, but that was years ago anyway. The experts on the web predicted that Justine would lose to Serena in three at first, and after she beat her, they predicted that she would lose to Venus in three too. AND SHE PROVED THEM WRONG ON BOTH COUNTS!

2. Fed won! Fine, not that I'm a fan of his, but it's really hard to hate him, although I'd really like to. I mean, congrats, it would have been quite sad if he didn't, especially since he was playing against Djokovic, the young upstart, in the finals.

3. Marcos Baghdatis was out in the first round! I still haven't forgiven him for beating Kolya at Wimbledon! Well done Max Mirnyi!

4. Maria Sharapova was out in the third round! AM EXTREMELY DELIGHTED. Go ahead, then, pose and flounce in that red dress of yours, with, ah, "600 Swarovski crystals", and which is "a graphic interpretation of New York's skyline". Riiiiiight. Is this a Slam you're in, or some fashion show? I mean, there's nothing wrong with wanting to look good, but please, after the match? And if you can't handle it, don't wear it! She's so absolutely distracted with her outfit and appearance! She's forever sweeping her hair back from her face, rearranging her necklace and earrings, and straightening her outfit. How do you play well if you don't focus on the game? And she lost to a relative unknown, Agnieska Radwanska of Poland, all of 18 years old. There was this 16 year old girl, Agnes Szavay, I think her name was, who beat Nadia Petrova too! I mean, that's amazing.

5. Kolya made it to the semis! Nice comeback, although I know it probably won't last very long. At least all his wins here were in straight sets.

6. Tommy Haas beat James Blake! Tough five-setter, but he did it!

7. Feli made it to the round of 16! It's much further than I expected him to. AND he managed to take a set off Fed before losing. For someone with his ranking, that's really pretty good.

8. Radek Stepanek gave Djokovic a hard time in a second round five-setter, almost, ALMOST, kicking him out. I mean, all the sets were either tie breakers or 7-5! It was a really good fight he put up, and I think Martina Hingis is now having some second thoughts about breaking off their engagement. :D

The BAD:

1. Rafa, poor poor Rafa, lost in the round of 16 to David Ferrer, his own countryman. I mean, I expected him to go as far as the quarters or semis only, cos hard court is his worst surface. King of clay, prince of grass, but hard courts, no. And he always seems to be plagued with injuries at this time of the year. Last year's US open too, and then the Australian open early this year, where he did not play at all, due to injuries. But he still managed to recover back in time to win the French open! I'm hoping he'll do that again. VAMOS RAFA! He was plagued with tendinitis in both knees, which is the degeneration of the tendons, the fibrous cords between the muscles and bone, due to over usage and wear and tear. :( Which is made worse by the impact on the hard court. Throughout the tournament, he had both knees taped. :( The night before the US open started, he was actually thinking of flying home to Spain. :( But he's just gone to see the doctor, so hopefully he'll recover soon. Awww.

2. Juan Carlos Ferrero lost to Feli in the first round! I mean, yes, I'm happy for Feli, but so sad for Juan! He's ranked so much higher than Feli! And in the first round too! That's really sad. They should never arrange for two Spaniards to play in the first round, it results in heartbroken fans of the Spanish Armada.

3. Serena and Venus both claim injury, after and during the match, respectively. Serena moaned on about sprained thumbs, Venus first claimed fever, and upon the trainer declaring her temperature to be fine, she then claimed a leg injury, and when that was pronounced fine too, she claimed it was her wrist. Riiiiight. "Serena's and Venus's father, Richard, cites a whole litany of health-related excuses for both daughter's losses to Henin." And out comes more unknown injuries, like "an inflamed knee" and many others which I can't remember. Please. Don't make excuses for your loss! I mean, some people really are injured, but these two are forever pretending. Serena's cramp at Wimbledon was like, really fake! And they are honestly such poor losers. Everytime they lose, they refuse to give credit to their opponent. Serena claims Justine made many "lucky shots", and that it was more of SHE losing than Justine winning. Riiight. Rafa at any rate is a good loser. On his loss to David Ferrer, here's what he had to say, "I don't want to make any excuses. He was very good, and he beat me. I don't want to use my injuries as an excuse." Now THAT'S a true sportsman.

Phew, that was a real long post.
