I never thought I'd say this, but I miss options now. XD Ok fine, just deconstructing media forms. And that's not cos of the option itself. :D Ok basically, it was the last lesson on thursday, so nice ms tan decided to let us watch a movie.

YAMAKASI ZOMG SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I have decided that all french movies are NICE. Like les choristes!

Yamakasi sounds jap, and that's what I thought when the title first appeared on the screen, and I was all confused cos she said it was a french movie. Apparently it's some other language which I can't remember. And I'm so sad that no one else has watched it. :( I guess I'm alone in this again. Awww. Sob. Only my dmf classmates I guess, and it's so sad that no one else from our class has watched it. I have half a mind to buy it from ms tan if she's willing to sell it to me. :D

Anyway the movie's about parkour, or free running. Anyone heard of that? Basically it's something like those chase sequences you see in spy movies *coughbondcough* where they run and jump and climb stuff and beat obstacles. Yep. So there're these 7 guys from paris who form this gang thing and who call themselves the yamakasi, and their favourite past-time is to scale buildings every morning and 6 am, thus waking up and traumatizing residents who open their eyes in the morning to see hulking figures outside their window. How cool is that! And there's this guy called Oliver Chen, who's nicknamed Baseball, and who winks at girls through the window every time they stare at him in horror with their mouths hanging open. So the residents call the police on them every morning, but they always escape just in time.

Chief police: China has the 7 *can't remember*, India has the 7 *can't remember either*, and in France, we have the 7 pains in the ass!

I can't remember the complicated frenchy names they have, but I remember 6 of the nicknames: Mr Music, Tango (cute!), Still bull, Baseball (even cuter!), SPIDER (cutest!), and Rocket.

Chief police: Rocket, as in speed, not science!

Spider is cuteeeeeeeeeee. There's this scene when he's in his girlfriend's house, and she goes into the toilet. He's outside the toilet, and suddenly takes this rope and ties it around the staircase railing, and throws it down about, what, seven storeys? Then he goes down the rope upside-down, spiderman style, and arrives at the bottom floor, snatches a rose from the flower pot downstairs, and scales the rope again just in time to present the rose to his girlfriend who's just come out of the toilet. That whole thing was really cool. :)

The rest of the movie's about how they break into the houses of 7 very rich medical officers to steal $60 000 to pay for the heart transplant of a little boy who fell from a tree while trying to imitate the yamakasi. The boy's family is really poor, and these 7 medical officers had refused to let them use Medicare to pay for the transplant, or something to that effect. So the yamakasi are actually stealing from the very same people who refused the boy's family the money, a la robin hood. Steal from rich, give poor. They manage to pass the money to the boy's family in time, before they get arrested. And it's seriously amusing the way the police go about arresting them. They send over twenty policemen into the house, barricade the whole area, and clutch machine guns and stuff. Right. To arrest 7 teens who aren't even armed?

The interrogation scene's the funniest. I'll try and reproduce exactly what they said.

Mr music: Well, today, we just thought we'd go somewhere different...
Tango: ...change of scenery, you know...
...
...
...
Person whose name I can't remember: ...and then we saw these two gangsters...
Spider: five animals!
Baseball: six skinheads!
Rocket: with swastikas!
Mr music:...beating up this old lady...
Tango:...punching...
Person:kicing!
Spider: almost killing her!
Baseball: luckily we were there...
Rocket: we really gave it to them!
Tango: we jumped them!
Person: knocked them!
Spider: we really gave it to them!
(a lot of other funny stuff which I can't remember, basically the story gets more and more ridiculous and exaggerated)
Baseball: then suddenly we see a lot of police cars...
Tango: machine guns...
Person: they started chasing us...
Mr music: that's the police...
Baseball: ...arrest first...
Spider: ask questions later!
etc, etc, etc.

Chief police: That. Is. A whole lot of crap.

Mr music: No! I swear!
Still bull: on my life!
Person: my mother!
Rocket: my uncle, my aunt, my brothers, my sisters...
Tango: my whole family!
Baseball: my friends!
Rocket: my dad, but he's dead...
Spider: *serious expression* I'd spit, but you'd probably object.

Chief police: *hands in head* Lock them up.

Later they're freed, cos this inspector vincent backs up their story. He's a good friend of mr music, that's why. So it's a happy ending, boy recovers, etc, vincent gets together with the boy's older sister, alila or something like that. She was really angry with them at first, saying it was their fault that her brother got hurt imitating them, and she was all, "Who's going to save him now?! You and your pirouettes?!" (points at Tango)

Ending scene:

Spider's gf: you're amazing!
Spider: *smirking* of course I am, but don't crease the jacket. *tugs his jacket sleeve out of her grip*
Gf: *slaps his arm*
Spider: *kisses her*
Awww.

That was in reference to an earlier scene when he's, uh, not exactly keeping his hands to himself, and she goes, "stop it! you're creasing my shirt!"

More spider scenes:

(before he sets off robbing houses)
Girl wakes up to see his figure outside her window, and she jumps out of bed to open the curtains and sees him.
Gf: you're crazy! do you know what time it is! my dad'll kill you!
Spider: I'm going somewhere, I have to do something, and if I...never see you again, I mean, I know I'm going to see you again, but...Shit. I'm no good at this love stuff.
Gf: *grabs him and kisses him*
Spider: *smiles and spidermans down the rope off the building*

(WARNING: EMO STUFF AHEAD)

Ok, on a much sadder note, I'm freaking worried about Rafa. He's still injured, knees still bandaged. I know people say it's a seasonal thing for him (he always gets injured around this time of the year), but still. :( :( :( I want that winner back. :( And, really, as much as I am looking forward to seeing him in the exhibition match in KL, I'd prefer it if he didn't play, if he's still injured. Exhibition matches don't give them any points for their rankings, so it's really not worth it. If he's injured, won't the match just be an extra strain on him? And it's not like it would give him any points. Money, yes, but who cares? He should rest himself for the china open. I know this might be the only chance I ever get to see him in real life, not on tv, but for his sake, I wish he'd call it off. And please don't insult him now, k. He's pitiful enough as it is. I'd rather you insult me. Except don't say I'm dumb. You can say I'm ugly or evil though. Or if it must be an obsession of mine, insult silas and his whipping, adrien and his nose, or something. Just leave poor rafa alone for now. Oh, and you can insult spider too.

I wonder how I've been so easily dragged into the whole doctor thing! *shakes head* I blame you Zhihua! I've been somehow coerced into watching the first two episodes of doctor who, both of which I find exceedingly scary (ok fine, not that much), mostly due to the ghost of the skinned stingray streched on a medical board / bitchy trampoline, in rose's words. >< The skin is a human skin! And it pops! And despite being nothing but a piece of SKIN and stretched out like a trampoline, and being like 2000 years old (or is it/she?), cassandra's still the vainest thing I've ever seen. Moisturise me! The third episode promises to be equally scary, if not more, what with dead charles dickens fans coming to life in an auditorium which I swear looks a lot like POTO's opera house! Erik wouldn't be pleased. Tsk. I think Zhihua is now deaf in one ear due to my constant screaming and shrieking throughout the show. Whoops.

Anyway, on a more exciting note, Zhihua and I went out yesterday in between options to Far East, where she insisted on eating the takeaway fish n chips at the Brit food stall, and which I was somehow tempted into buying too, despite the lose-weight regime my mum has set out for me (no fish n chips, chocolate and chicken pies, and half an hour of tennis everyday!). So we sat on benches eating and happily discussing (well at least I was) my future career as a ballgirl. XD Then we went off to borders at Zhihua's request (she wanted to check out books on the latest tenant *cough pun* in her very roomy heart), but wound up checking out stuff on Rafa instead. You can tell very obviously who started it. Actually we were checking out this harry potter calendar at first, with a picture for every week of the year, and which I was very tempted to buy. They had this LOVELY picture of a young snape reading a book under a tree, and HE LOOKED SO FREAKING CUTE! I was like, "I can't believe Lily actually chose this idiot (points at pic of James) over this, this, uh, FINE person (flips back to pic of snape)!". I was very tempted to rip out that page or at least take a pic of it with my handphone, but decided against it eventually.

Then we wandered over to the magazine section, where I was extremely delighted to discover a tennis magazine! I mean, this is really rare! Unlike soccer, which got a 22-page special in the sports section just because EPL was starting, tennis rarely gets even a full page to itself. The longest tennis article I ever saw in the news was probably the one which discussed the Roger-Rafa rivalry, which was almost a full page long, I think. So imagine my delight when I saw the magazine! (I might add that if they ever had a 22-page special on tennis, I might just faint with delight) I immediately proceeded to drag Zhihua over to that section, ignoring her feeble protests and mumblings about wanting to check out her book. I started flipping through it delightedly and was positively agog when I saw the pics of Rafa. Zhihua was like, "Yinfei, don't beat book. Don't tear book. Don't kiss book!" Anyway, I was pleased to find that Zhihua agreed with me that Djokovic looked a lot like Mr Toh, something which I have been saying ever since I set eyes on him. And Zhihua thinks he's nerdy! *whoops* Then I showed her Marat Safin, Zhimin's second favourite guy, and Zhihua commented that she did not like his hair. But his hair's seriously much better than last time, when it was closely shaved to his head. At least now he's got that curl. I like the curl. XD And he's gotten rid of the freaking beard and moustache, thank goodness. No beards, unless you're Lancelot. XD Oh, and Zhihua thinks Andy Murray's shuai. Well, he's British. And she disagrees with Zhimin that Kolya looks ano.

Anyway, after lots of fangirling and squealing, I finally realized that we were seriously running late. So, back to school. Sigh. I WANT TO BUY THAT TENNIS MAG!

Instead of getting to work on the seemingly endless stack of nice thick past-year chinese 'o's papers, I've gone back to reading HP fanfic. How very smart of me.

For some reason, I decided long ago that I simply couldn't tolerate any more fics on the present generation (draco/anyone makes me see green/red, ron/anyone and harry/anyone makes me wanna puke, although ron/harry and ron/ginny does have their merits), and converted to those from the marauders' era (am I even spelling it right) instead. Although not about the marauders. I do read a nice james/lily once in a while, but for some reason get a little turned off by sirius/lily. So I mostly start reading those about the slytherins (who are absolute lubb :D) - lucius/narcissa, snape/narcissa, and rita's *cough* all-time favorite, SNAPE/LILY! :D

And for some reason, I have recently taken a sudden interest in the founders' era. Although those actually kind of suck. But still, you can't blame the fanfic writers, founders' era is much harder to write, and not everyone can have the writing prowess of tanzhihua. :D And they're all kinda typical, like salazar and godric fighting over rowena/helga, with rowena being the more common one, and which is my preference too. :D There's this one which I read which is meant to be sad, but which I found pretty hilarious. I was actually attracted to it by its title "the venom of unrequitted love". Yeah, sounds like the kind of thing I like huh. As is obvious, it's about salazar and godric both loving rowena, but rowena doesn't like salazar (stupid girl!) and gets pregnant by godric. Salazar in his outrage + mad jealousy + angst + whatever lures rowena one night to the chamber of secrets, where...

Zhihua: where they had...?

Uh, NONONO. THEY DIDN'T. He actually turns her into the basilisk. Yes. So basically rowena's actually the basilisk, or vice versa. Then they have this epilogue where twelve-year-old harry stabs the basilisk with gryffindor's sword, and it turns into rowena. A horrified harry starts screaming and turns around, and when he turns back, the basilisk's back again. Then the whole thing ends with "her skeleton would lie in the chamber forever." What I found really funny was this part when godric is having an argument with salazar about the sorting, and when rowena tries to persuade him to stop, he shouts "NO! I cannot bear to have that pugnacious fool's face sneering at me so!" I was rofl-ing about the "pugnacious fool" part. :D

Salazar/rowena is lubb! :D I think one of the reasons why I liked that fic was cos of the fact that they described salazar as "dangerously passionate", which sounds like, hmmm, I wonder who! Ahahaha. I read a salazar/helga one-shot too, which actually wasn't that bad either. Basically I like stuff without godric in it, unless he's there as a love rival. :) But I'm generally against one-shots, cos although they can be quite sweet and all, I much prefer to read long LONG stuff. Oh but I so loved zhihua's erik/christine one-shot!

Ok why am I blabbering on and on about fics? Back to chinese. ><
